The Windrush Quilt

This Quilt has been hand sewn by African and Caribbean Seniors who travelled to the UK during the 1950s-70s to work in the UK after World War 2.

It is to remember their occupations and experiences over that time and though their lives. They worked as Nurses, in factories such as Hat-Making, Ballet Shoe Making and Bag Making. They started small businesses, worked as Bus Conductors, Shorthand Copy Typists and studied for exams as well as many other occupations.

In collaboration with:
- The Caribbean Social Forum.
- The Barnet African Caribbean Association.
- The Nubian Life Centre
- Waltham Forest, Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica Twinning Association
- The Enfield Caribbean Association
- Afro-Caribbean Elders Association

The Quilt is on display currently at:
